☼ Osa Peninsula & South Pacific
The Osa Peninsula is home to black sea turtles, which nest in small populations and sporadically year-round. Interestingly, scientists debate whether these turtles are their own species, or, in fact, a subspecies of the green sea turtle, which is found in other parts of Costa Rica. July through January sea turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs in the sand.

We have large resident pods of dolphins all year round and you can see dolphins at any time, year round. We most commonly see Spotted Dolphins, Bottlenose Dolphins, Spinner Dolphins, Common Dolphins and Roughtooth Dolphins. Other species of dolphins also make an appearance from time to time. The very best time to see Humpback Whales is with our Southern Migration, between mid July through October.

Weather wise, for both dolphins and whales, the best times are mid-December through mid-April and July through September. The rainy season (April-December) does not necessarily mean it rains all day, it usually means late afternoon showers, although of course, there are days that it rains all day. We rarely have to cancel tours for the weather.
